Bring your lunch and learn how he and Jenny minimised their carbon footprint while designing their home and how to consider efficiency first; in design, energy and water use, and food production.

Self-Guided Stops

ASHP Animas Valley- Mary’s an engineer with a solar home in the Animas Valley, a Rivian owner and she’s an expert on Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP). She can answer all your questions about cold climate ASHP in your home and how her system works.

Mountain Middle School
Did you know that they are a carbon neutral campus which generates nearly 100% of its power from solar?  Not only does the school utilize their solar to provide the school’s electricity, power their HVAC system, charge their electric van, it powers electric charging stations for staff to charge theirvehicles while at work.

Galbraith Construction
If you’re familiar with fine building in the region you know about Mark Galbraith. The solar house is a insulated concrete slab on grade with in-floor radiant hot water heating tubes. The water for heat and domestic hot water is provided by a 96% efficient natural gas boiler. We also have a heat recovery ventilation system to provide fresh air when the house in buttoned up and a steam humidifier to control the humidity level. Additionally we have a UV device (Knight IPG) in the duct run to provide very clean filtered air and EV charging. The 9.6 kW system feature bi-facial panels.

If you would like to visit the final stop of this fabulous, owner-built, custom solar home, it requires a Tour/Soirée Ticket for $65
