Hosts this month:

San Juan Mountains Association promotes responsible care of natural and cultural resources through education and hands-on involvement that inspires respect and reverence for our lands. SJMA is a grassroots organization whose members share values and passion for our public lands and cultural treasures. They are based in Durango, Colorado and are the non-profit education and interpretive partner for the San Juan National Forest and BLM Tres Rios Field Office.

They commit to building an organization widely recognized for conservation education and sustainability programs by:

  • Providing a broad range of rich and enjoyable programs
  • Inspiring people to work together to respect and enjoy the land.
  • Treating staff and supporters with respect and decency while nurturing their growth.

Turtle Lake Refuge is a non-profit organization established in 2000, whose mission is to celebrate the connection between personal health and wild lands. They manifest this goal through being a center for sustainable education. They focus on the values of the edible and medicinal plants, permaculture, and holistic health. They have a wild food café, a community farm, and a commercial kitchen where we grow and distribute local food creations into the community, including local microgreens to the public schools. They offer an organic weed mitigation service, called Bee Happy Lands providing organic land management stewardship practices to public and private land owners in the region. They continue to grow community integrity through collaboration and celebrations.
